"Building Sacred Space"
January 24-26, 2003
The Hilton Resort in Galveston, Texas

Come share some time with us!

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It has been a great pleasure to work together to plan and organize the Weekend Retreat in Galveston, and we look forward even more to the actual event itself! A team of SIHA, SYA and Subud Houston members has been steadily working behind the scenes in preparation to greet you, and we are now nearing completion. Your presence is all that's needed. We would greatly love to welcome you with open arms to Galveston, just an hour south of Houston, Texas, cowboy boots and hats optional.

READ ON FOR MORE DETAILS This event was inspired by the opportunity to bring the
generations within Subud together in a productive way to
create something truly beneficial, as they both benefit from
the energy and experience exchanged in the process.
We would like to continue this spirit at the Retreat, and invite
you to come share in the process. Texas awaits you.

The weekend's theme is "Building Sacred Space". It seems
that in Subud whenever we come together as brothers and sisters we experience the feeling of "sacred space", of closeness, and that is one of the great blessings of the latihan. As we grow closer towards exhibiting the qualities of Susila, Budhi, and Dharma within our lives, we learn to build sacred space within our selves, our groups, our regions, the nation, and beyond.

SIHA and SYA are grateful for this opportunity to come together and present workshops on building sacred space, both within ourselves through health and physical well being, and within our lives as we grow and develop our capacity through the latihan. It is our hope that in the process of coming together not only will we share in the warmth and fun of being with our brothers and sisters, but it will inspire energy for future projects and enterprises that we can take back to our groups and our regions.

SIHA & SYA PRESENTERS

Subud International Health Association

We are delighted to bring you three workshops
Presented by SIHA health professionals,
Rohanna Salom, Latidjah Miller, and Roland
Evans.

"An Exploration of Sacred Space"
Rohanna Salom is an OMD (Oriental Medical Doctor).
She has extensive training in Oriental Medicine,
Functional Medicine and Shamanic Medicine. She uses
herbs, acupuncture, crystals and other energetic tools. Her
approach to health is based in the Spiritual training of the
Latihan and the other disciplines. For her, this world as
a dream or an illusion and the Latihan is the way to wake
up.

"Bioenergetic Nutrition"
Latidjah Miller is a registered nurse with extensive
interest and experience in holistic health, nutrition, and wellness. Her work as an intensive care neonatal nurse for more than a decade gave her incentive to begin a holistic practice in nutrition. Her focus is on restoring wellness by correcting the underlying nutritional imbalance. She currently serves as the Coordinator for SIHA.

"Developing Inner Sacred Space"
Roland Evans is a transpersonal psychotherapist, writer and gardener who teaches at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. Roland's workshops at BIG were overflowing with demand and extremely successful. He is also the author of Seeking Wholeness.

Subud Youth Association
Jacob Drazen and Benedictine Schurwanz, SYA Co-Chairs, are bringing their tremendous energy and enthusiasm to Galveston, as well as several Regional SYA Reps. SYA along with Subud Houston have worked diligently to help organize this event and draw those who are interested in participating.
During the gathering there will be an opportunity for youth development testing, with possible questions including talent and career testing, as well as testing our roles as members, helpers, and committee members within Subud.
There will also be a Youth Development Meeting, which is an exciting opportunity to discuss current projects and consider our next enterprise. Bring your ideas, more importantly, bring your selves! This is a fantastic opportunity for working together to create something meaningful.

10:00am - 11:30am SIHA Workshop: "An Exploration of Sacred Space" presented by Rohanna Salom
Through the training of the latihan of Subud we can learn the resonance and culture of every other creature of God, from the inside out. The Power of God manifests itself as the Life Force where all the resonances are included. That is why Subud includes everything. The latihan teaches us the vibration of the Life Force and also it teaches acquiescence within the great Power, which is the ultimate desire of our souls. The Subud Symbol is the map to it. We will engage in energy balancing exercises to improve physical well-being.

11:30 - 1:30pm Lunch and walks on the beach

1:30 - 3:00pm SIHA Workshop: Bioenergetic Nutrition presented by Latidjah Miller
The basis of life is energy transformation. Using ancient Eastern wisdom and modern Western technology we can now assess the energy patterns in the body known as meridians and offer ways to rebalance any disharmony, stress, or weakness. Meridian Stress Assessment helps the nutritionist to create a nutrition and detoxification program that is unique to the energy patterns of an individual. Therapy can include correcting the diet, removing or treating for allergens, recommendations for specific nutritional supplements, and homeopathic remedies. Bioenergetic nutrition is the nutrition therapy of the future.

3:00 - 4:00pm Break

4:00 - 7:00pm SIHA Workshop: Developing Inner Sacred Space, presented by Roland Evans
Life asks us to develop a deepening connection to our own inner nature, the space within. To further this process, we will explore our dreams, aspirations and experiences within a lively and supportive group atmosphere. We seek to create a practical vision to help participants move forward on their own personal path.

7:00 - 8:30pm Banquet Dinner

8:30 - 10:00pm Latihan and SYA Development Testing

10:30pm Entertainment

and discuss any dreams we may have had from the night before.

1:00 - 3:00pm SYA Development Meeting – led by Jacob Drazen, SYA Co-chair

workshops with a chance to break into smaller groups
to explore ideas and plans and the frameworks that can
allow them to resonate beyond the weekend.

Warm Goodbyes until we meet again!

Houston is waiting to greet you!

"In my dream, the angel shrugged and said, if we fail this time, it will be a failure of imagination, and then she placed the world gently in the palm of my hand."
