Hello. I am a isolated member, and have been most of the time since I was opened.

A few years ago, I experienced something. I felt like I was going to die, and in fact dead allready. As I waited for death to arrive, I gave away all my things and shaved my head. I was sure that it was as a result of sin, and I was sure I was going to hell. In fact, I was in a state that was as if I was locked, and I felt as if I allready was in hell, dreading for how it would be for me without my body. My body, by the way, felt like a burden, and I also was also looking forward to get rid of it.

Just to be in the state was alone a strong experience. I felt like a spirit, a ghost. I didn`t use my mind, but I could feel light and darkness within people and within myself. I only trusted the light and darkness as information, I did not use my mind for anything.

I experienced many strong miraculous things during this period. The period lasted for about a year, or a few months shorter than that.

Once I experienced that a person who I was comforting in a telephone conversation received the latihan. He had called me completely and utterly depressed, and received the latihan through the conversation and he said he was shaking in is whole body, filled with something that he had never experienced before. The conversation lasted for an hour, and he said in the end of the conversation that he had been trembling the whole time and in fact was still trembling. Before we hung up he said joyfully: I am happy, I am happy, I am happy!!!

I want to know something. What does Bapak say about dying as a process in the latihan?

How many really have experienced the same?

I was struck with surprice when I got a totally clear message from God that I belong to Him, and that He wanted me to continue my life here on earth. I accepted the gift of Life, and I let God ressurect me. Today I feel that my life is a gift, and that I am alive only because it is Gods will.

Hello, lovely,

I once had a latihan before which I felt fine, but during which it seemed that I was intensely sick and perhaps about to die. I staggered over to another Subud member, and told him I how felt. He guided me into a chair and suggested I wait a few seconds. He returned and said he had received that my experience was a receiving - that I should just surrender in the latihan. I did so, and within minutes I was feeling fine again. I have never understood what it was all about, but that's okay.

All the best,
Merin

I think it would be fair to say that the whole point of the latihan, the point of meditation, is to die to your little egotistical self and wake up to your true self, which is not always a pleasant, frictionless process.

Yes. The whole point of doing the latihan is to die from our egotistical self and wake up to our true self.

I agree. Thank you for your answer. And to Merin, too.

Please read or listen to Bapak's talks so that you can deepen your understanding. In Subud we have to die 49 times, one for each level. There are seven levels, material, vegetable, animal, ordinary human, Rohani, Rachmani and Rabbani. On each level there are the same seven levels. Example, material-material, material-vegetable, Material-animal, etc. So, if you have died once, you only have 48 more times to go.

Praise God that you were given that experience.

Ah shucks, I was led to believe I could just start at the last Door of Death, no. 49. Please don't tell me it isn't so!! Shocked

P.S. - Don't take Bapak's words too literally, he was known to use analogies and metaphors.

I don`t see it as a problem if I have 48 more times to die. I don`t think my inner state is perfect yet, otherwise I would have been able to heal and save souls for God at all times like Jesus did.

I would like to refer to what Jesus Christ has said according to the Bible.

Jesus said that in order to find oneself, one has to lose oneself. In order to find ones life, one has to lose ones life.

The New Testament also says that there are several Heavens - not just one Heaven. It says that Jesus travelled through all the heavens before he was sat next to the right hand of God.

I dont have any reason to doubt that what Bapak says is true. If he says that there are 49 Heavens, why should it not be true? The Bible does not say exactly how many Heavens there are - at least not to my knowledge.
