I am being born
against my will
gripped in the arms of a sumo wrestler
all night long
the night is black
and full of pain
I am praying
for it to end
when I try to breath and rest
these arms contract
on me again
the sky is pressing down
the barren trees of winter
have taken all my air.
has there been any thinning
yet?
how much is she distended now?
will this night never end?
the contractions
come again
return again
I did not ask to be here
I am only a passive player
in the passage of my birth.
and I am nowhere near
the end of this emergence
