Ever since I have known 'Subud Life' this website changes with every time I logg on and I can't seem to find anything. Not that I am looking for anything any longer because I have long lost any insentive to figure out what this page does or means to be... I do come here for the photos occasionally and then have to look for them because they are not where I found them the time before.

Truth is I think there is a lot going on here but as a modern internet surfer I need to find accessable presentations and clear definitions of what a website wants to be or do. Often simpler is better...

There is a chance that my wish for 'simpler' is impossible to achieve if we are going to claim to be dealing with Subud life here... Is 'simple Subud life' an oxymoron?

As a big fan of the site, I have to say that as much as I enjoy the site there are some organizational challenges that could be addressed rather simply and might make finding things a bit easier.

For instance, there is a new gallery for selling things – this is awesome – allowing a place for enterprise is unbelievably cool. It might even be worth creating a dedicated section that will allow for more information to be captured and perhaps even a dedicated forum. Its current location in the gallery is unfortunately a bit random and certainly not where anyone would intuitively look for it.

Also, people and gatherings, goodness knows I’ve posted more than my share of pictures there. I occasionally think it would be nice if that gallery had subcategories… a “general” perhaps but also special segments for specific events. That way instead of scanning through however many pages people could jump directly to the pictures of the event they want to look at. Additionally when pictures are added at random intervals they will still be grouped together by event rather than interspersed throughout.

I know that the site has had busier times and slower times, but there is no doubt that it’s a great site and a great way to chat with people from all over the planet. I’d love to see a great idea fulfill its potential and be as busy as it should be.

My it's here! Honestly, we've waited 4 years for serious suggestions from people.

Keep them coming.....

If other people who use/pass through regularly want a real interactive Subud communication platform Subud Life asks for two things:

(i) A donation here - anything you feel moved to contribute:
http://subudlife.com/index.php?module=pncPayPal

(ii) What features matter so should be more prominent and clearly
accessible and what features don't, that can go or be more sidelined.

If we get these two things we can then channel it into lots of great new developments now available for the various features on site.

Thank you Rosalind and Mercurio.

P.S. Simple changes require Stewart's labour time, which in this day and age costs. His good will and selfless effort, which was massive, ran out about 3.2 years into creating this site.

Hey Harun - Don't suppose you've ever considered charging a small percentage or fee for selling artwork, jewelry etc from the site? It might provide funding for the site.

Hey Rosalind - We do for both. I don't suppose you'd like to help us lazy arses promote such in terms of attracting space users and buyers......?

Love
Harun.

P.S. I was personally thinking there are five key features on this site:

The Galleries, Subud Radio, The Shout Box, The Forums, And Seperate Gallery-Selling Space (Items for Sale).

There is plenty of uptodate software for these, that costs nothing or minimal extras...

We probably need to focus on making these more prominent in a clearer interface.

EVERYBODY WHAT ARE YOUR TOP FIVE FEATURES, IN WHICH ORDER?

Hey Harun Smile

Actually, I would love to. I’m bored out of my mind at the present moment and would love to be able to play with some ideas.

My first idea is that in addition to the ‘business’ section of the site where artists can sell their works you have a program for printable business cards so that each artist/craftsman can print and distribute business cards with their name, a line or two of text and a URL pointing to the section of Subud Life that houses the artwork for sale. I know that there is software out there that will do this fairly simply but I’m not familiar with it enough to know if any will allow for a small image of one of the artists pieces to be printed on it. If there is one, I think that would be optimal.

The idea is that this will allow for cross promotion of goods on sale as those who go to see the work of a particular individual will also see the works of others as well as potentially drive viewers to the site that are not in Subud or simply have never been to the site.

In terms of marketing this idea/space to Subud artists - the best space and time I can think of is during congresses where you can talk to the artists who have submitted work for the gift shop (or at least collected the names of those who are motivated to produce and sell) as well as contacting the various SICA reps around the world.

If you want to continue the discussion here or offline, either works for me – fyi I’ve decided to sell all my worldly goods (well, just my car actually) and do a whole lot of traveling. I’d love to do a little of this while I’m traveling as it will give me some mental structure, without which I get irritable.

Love,
Rosalind

P.s. For me the top five sections are:
1. The Galleries
2. The Forums
3. The News
4. The Sales Gallery/Selling Space
5. The Shout Box

I have yet to successfully access Subud Radio so that may be why it’s not on my list.

Here's an idea for our webmasters to consider ~

This website could provide sound bytes from Subud composers, in a manner similar to that which is found on the Amazon and BMG websites.
Occasionally, a complete song could be provided, with the composer's permission.

There could be separate web pages for each major genre, e.g.: classical, world, folk, rock, jazz.

They could be stored in MP3 format.

If the MIDI format ever becomes more common, that would have the advantage of involving very small file sizes, and could give a good idea of the composition, esp. if it's instrumental.
