Subud Youth Coming Soon to a Mailbox Near You! Snail Mail Across the Miles...
Posted by heidihitchcock
Wednesday, November 23, 2005

Attention All Youth and those who read youth news articles! I am sending out 4 cards by mail to various Subud young folk, from us young folk here in Vancouver BC Canada. Why, you may ask? And why is it News?...

I got this idea, to connect with other young folk, and since we don't want to wait for the next World Congress, and we're none of us rich enough to travel, this is the next best thing I can think of. And I'm telling you all because the idea is that these cards will be received and then mailed out again to more young folk, and so on and so on until they have been spread around to as many young folk as we can all find to mail them to. We're going to track them using subudlife.com, to see where they go and who receives them. So check in at the "Forums" part of the site to watch them travel! Also, if you hear of someone near you receiving one, write an update on the forum to let us know! Let's see if we can send them around the world! Love to all, Heidi

Peter Jenkins writes:

Following the tremendous interest in the YES Quest programme at the recent World Congress, Quests have been scheduled for July, 2006, at La Source, in the French Pyrenees, and at the Seven Circles Retreat in Badger, California.

The YES Quest has been running for four years in Kalimantan and Australia, but never before in Europe or the US. The Quest Team is hoping to offer more programmes in more places, including Quests for those over 30 and specially designed programmes for teams and communities. They are also planning to take the Quest beyond Subud and into the world.

Full details of dates and costs for the Quests at La Source and Seven Circles will be announced very soon. In you are interested in taking part and would like to be on our participant email list, write to info@yesquest.org  and visit www.yesquest.org  for background on the YES Quest. You can check out La Source at www.lasourcepyrenees.com , and Seven Circles at www.sevencirclesretreat.org Both of these centres are owned and operated by Subud members.

Subud Youth Help Needed to set up Youth Latihans!
Posted by saturn
Thursday, October 06, 2005
Since positive testing at Innsbruck that ordinary Subud youth could benefit from a separate Youth World Latihan, it has been a struggle to gain interest. We need people to help co-ordinate our efforts and spread the word! At World Congress in Innsbruck, 2005, my friends and I participated in testing about how Subud Youth can really find our own identities and grow. Afterwards, we decided to hold a Youth Latihan towards the end of Congress.

Belated Happy New Year to you all!
We started well this year with a New Years Eve party at the Amadeus (Central London) organised in conjunction with SICA where we raised £950. The money will now go to the tsunami appeal, as we all felt strongly that we should do something to help our brothers and sisters in the difficult work that they are doing in Aceh.
You may remember that we originally advertised the party to raise money for the African bi-zonal meeting. However, a couple of weeks beforehand we found out the happy news that they had already met their target and were no longer looking for funding. At first this confused Melissa and I, as the testing had been strongly in favour for this cause. Then again, thinking about it, we had tested about how it was to organise an event for the African bi-zonal meeting, which had been really lovely. And it was. The organising had been relatively easy, and quite fun to do. When we found out that we had a party but no cause, we didn’t really know what to do. The testing was unclear and heavy about where to send any money raised, and it was correct for us to use our heads and hearts to decide closer to the time. Unfortunately, as you know, the world was traumatised by the news on Boxing Day of the tsunami that devastated so many people’s lives. It was deeply shocking to hear about the families losing loved ones in such a violent way and about the wreckage left behind when the waters receded. It was an automatic response to donate what money we raised to help those affected by the tsunami. The generosity of so many who were at the party was really touching, as people were willing to empty their purse/wallet for those in so much need.
The evening started with a beautiful cello recital by Rosada Davies, who travelled all the way up from Exeter to be with us that evening. We were rocked most of the night by the impromptu ‘Ibuprofen and the painkillers’ (aptly named for what I was looking for the morning after) with Raphael Skerrat, Marcus Bolt, Hayward Slater, Andrew Clague and Matthew Warman playing. This was interrupted briefly for the favours auction, generously provided for and bought by the following: a personal portrait by Carol Harrington raised £100 from Martin Amos, a neck massage by Olivia Weaver went to Hardy Speight (£25), a personal letter head to be designed by Marcus Bolt was bought by Kate Brightwell (£50), a sound therapy treatment to be given by Adrienne Thomas to Rosemary Tolley (£80), an origami lesson from Heidi Gawen to Conrad Williams (£25) and the advantages of your very own personal herbalist for a year of Haskel Adamson to Tony Harrington for £120 (who gave it to me, hurrah!). At midnight we sang Auld Lang Syne, and then discoed the early hours away with DJ Marilyn. Thanks to all of you for not only bravely standing up in front of everybody, but for performing/donating such amazing talents for free.

Subud Youth New Years Eve party in London
Posted by louise
Thursday, December 16, 2004
Youth in association with SICA have put together an evening of fun, dancing and entertainment to celebrate this coming New Years Eve at the Amadeus Centre in London. We have quite a tempting line up, so I hope that you will join us to welcome the new year in. Lucas Adamson will be our compere for the evening

Classical ensemble: Rosada Davies and friends

Sanderson Topham, Hayward Slater and Adrienne Thomas

Rock and Roll band

DJ Marilyn Hahan, for cool grooves after midnight.

'Favours' Auction. Feel free to offer yourself to be auctioned; an easy way to both raise money for a worthy cause, and also do good things for somebody else. All by just being yourself, an honourable way to start the year!

For the small £12 entrance fee (£6 if you help us!), you will also receive a lovely glass of bubbly when the new year rolls in.

We do need some help behind the bar, to be in the auction and on the door, so offers to come to our rescue are really welcome.

All my love

Louise
