All Menucha Spiritual Retreat
Posted by rachmanc
Tuesday, November 12, 2002
l just got back from the Menucha retreat in Oregon. What an experience! I am astounded that it still packs such a wallop after all these years! This time I stayed in the 'Barn', which is not actually a barn, but a lower priced option where one may stay without having the food program. I did not want the food since I am fasting and have somewhat odd eating habits anyway. I shared the barn space with a group of young people, and was pleased for the opportunity to get to know them better. I am hopeful for our future! They are amazing, talented, energetic, and full of new ideas. We stayed awake together late into the night, and had long discussions about Subud life and other topics. My feeling is that they would like to participate more in Subud, other than just doing latihan, but are lacking the opportunities. I hope we can make space for that. I came to the conclusion that we older members need to be more active in inviting and encouraging them to participate in all aspects of the Subud association.

How do we create a culture of enthusiasm, trust in one another and above all.....

..... a sense of giving on every level?

I have written this article because I and I believe many others in Subud wish to form a consensus on moving forwards. Many people probably feel that we have had one too many financial and project based let downs. Hey life's tough. Or on the other hand, there exists in whatever measure a culture of condescension and cultishness wherein there is a hierarchy of those who "know how it should be" and there is resulting conflict with others. The net result of which has been an overall sense of failure, a reduced trust in one another and this abstract "separate" organisation called the Subud Organisation. Above all there is a despondency when it comes to the matters of financial and practical management. Which in turn has lead to a sense of stagnation and drift in our organisation because of people's fear of a repeat of past hiccups and 'hurt'.

I don't believe anyone thinks all is lost and we shall never really achieve much of the receiving that Bapak had envisioned for Subud. However, many people do the Latihan and don't pay much effort or attention to the wider organisation, which they would have enthusiastically done when Bapak was around. ...........READ ON

Subud Youth SUBUD YOUTH BRITAIN NEWSLETTER - FRESH RABBIT - ONLINE!
Posted by odette
Sunday, October 20, 2002

ALL THOSE WHO ARE INTERESTED in seeing Flesh Rabbit online.... right here on our very own Subud community website (SubudLife), put your hands up and get seen and heard while you still can!!

Fish Rabbit has been going now for nearly 4 years, and in that short space of time, has seen more editors come and go than you could possible imagine. Most are, admittedly, still in rehabilitaion at this time, but are generally making good progress. (Sorry chaps!)

After a few cosmetic changes, style reincarnations and several (futile) attempts to change the name of Britain's Subud Youth Broadsheet, Frumpy Rabbit has succeeded to grow and prosper and still resides in it's usual place, in amongst the centre pages of the Subud Britain Bulletin.

As the current editor of Frightened Rabbit I am interested, for however long I can muster the time and interest, to pull a few key articles out and put them up on SubudLife, in an effort to generate growth and discussion and communication within our wider International Subud youth 'family'.

Please read on below to see a couple of this months extracted articles, and until next time, thanks for your continued support and endless words of encouragement and critisism. You've been grand, as they say!

Ciao, Odette

Subud Writers Especially the simple, way
Posted by Benjamin
Thursday, October 03, 2002
It is Sunday, the seventh of July. The commencement of his 27th year on earth. He got to her house around eight, just as the golden light of Chicago was mellowing deeper. She invited him in, they sprawled on the couch. He was buzzing with a thousand thoughts, rumbling them into her belly with his mouth and vocal chords. So many people swirling in his field, tastes of old friendships, conversations with her and her and him and him. He rests there, face buried into her slight paunch, trying to put everything in place. All The Virtual Latihan Hall and Virtual Subud Office will soon be combined
Posted by HarunKennedy
Thursday, September 26, 2002

Originally the Virtual Latihan Hall (VLH) was conceived by Stewart. His fount of inspiration did not dry up there. In time he came up with the Virtual Subud Office (VSO). The VLH meanwhile, although having a bogey coloured Subud Symbol that caused various hearts to flutter, it was soon to be good old gold. However, now the amalgamation of the VLH and VSO is on the cards, and this will be set up shortly......
